Meet the Jepsens

Daniel and Bethany raise their four children and their three Golden girls on the family wheat farm near the small town of Ione, Oregon. Bethany had grown up with Golden Retrievers in her family. During her teens she showed her Goldens locally and bred her dog, Charity on two occasions. When Daniel and Bethany married in 2013 Bethany hoped to one day have another Golden. That became a reality after the couple moved to Boardman, Oregon in 2015 and added Lucy to their family. Lady was added four years later and the Jepsen’s moved to the family farm in 2020. Their third girl, Sunflower, was added to the pack in 2020. There are a total of three veterinarians in the extended Jepsen family which have helped them in the care of their dogs and puppies. The kids get excited for each litter and enjoy playing with the puppies, giving them their names, helping with vaccines, and sending them off to their forever homes.

Lucy

Lucy is our first girl and is retired from breeding as of this year. She has a beautiful thick, red coat and a winning personality. Lucy comes from a hunting line, and although we have not used for hunting, at least one of her pups is an active hunter in Southern Oregon. She weighs in at 65 lbs and has a broad build. Lucy trained quickly to be gentle around our young children and is very easygoing with them. Her favorite activities are jogging with Daniel in the mornings and chasing her toy tire. Lucy has many puppies placed in homes around the Pacific Northwest. Her pups have a good track record for health and a number have gone to homes that got to know one of Lucy’s pups via a neighbor or friend.

Lady

Lady is our middle Golden girl. She was one of the calmer puppies from her litter, and she has proven to be easygoing for her breed. She has been very trainable and great with our kids. Though she has an easygoing personality, she is a fast and graceful runner with lots of zeal for life. She would rather be out sniffing for pocket gophers than hanging around the food dish. She is tall and slender, weighing in at 50 lbs. She has a noticeably thinner coat than Lucy, but longer feathering. She has “Good” rated OFA hip score and is genetically tested. She is five years old and we plan to breed her again in the future to Edison. Keep scrolling to read about him.

Sunflower

Sunflower is our youngest Golden Girl. She is the daughter of our own Lady, and the sire ‘Sir Walter of River Heights’. She has been very trainable and good with our kids. We chose her because she was either 1st or 2nd to come to us whenever we would go to see her and her littermates. She is graceful like her mother, though a slightly broader build, weighing in at 64 lbs. She has a noticeably thinner coat than Lucy, but slightly thicker than Lady’s. She is 2.5 years old and has a PennHip hip score in the top 5% for Golden Retrievers, and has been genetically tested. Her current litter is with Edison. Keep reading to learn about him.

Edison

Edison belongs to Bethany’s brother Matthew and lives with him on their small farm acreage in Southern Oregon. Because he’s family he doesn’t just come for a few days as needed, but has spent considerable time on our own farm. Though an intact male he is as friendly and agreeable as our girls. Edison is the son of our Lucy, and Sparky, who fathered litters with both Lucy and Lady. Edison is dark, but has some lighter genes in his background. He weighs 75-80 lbs. We are excited to have him as one of our studs due to the success of his littermates in various homes. He is athletic, holds a regal stance, loves to fetch, and gets along well with cats. He has a top rated PennHip score for Golden Retrievers and is genetically tested.
